Daryl Powell says Wakefield Trinity have their work eliminated to duplicate last season's Super over Warrington as the two face each other for the very first time this campaign on Saturday.

The 60-year-old, who coached Warrington between 2022-23, led his Trinity side to 30-16 away and 40-10 home wins versus Wolves last season.

But Powell believes Sam Burgess's side have made strides since those outcomes and anticipates a severe test when the two meet in front of the BBC cameras at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

"Everybody asks me this around Warrington," Powell informed BBC Radio Leeds. "I simply concentrate on us and don't stress over what occurred in 2015.

"We have put it behind us since this year is completely various. I thought Warrington played truly well in round one, they were really strong and actually moved the ball well."

"He is a hazard, however I just think they look like they have enhanced significantly from in 2015.

"They have actually signed a number of pack players in Liam Byrne and Toafofoa Sipley who look like they have actually made a difference in the middle of the field."

Warrington had a bye week recently as their set up challengers Hull KR handled Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Challenge however went out 24-14 winners over St Helens in week one.

Trinity lost to Toulouse in round one however recuperated with a narrow 18-16 win at Huddersfield Giants last weekend.
